Uh huh. This picture reminds me of how I was dressed for school today and how I sometimes respond confidently, red being a power color. Each day we recite our Pledge, Promise and Student Creed with gusto! So I could have passed for the Miraculous Ladybug today……or in another kid’s words, as “Watermellon Woman.” Either way, I was seeing spots, if not spitting seeds.
Zoinks! I jumped into action in an outdoor learning classroom by attempting to prevent my students from burning holes in things with magnifying glasses. What a beautiful day for an activity I dubbed S.S.I, or Science Scene Investigation. I made it up, sort of like the true story of Amber formation on ancient Guido trees. Love tapping into the creative tree sap. I borrowed the SSI idea from prime time’s CSI and pitched it. It went well out in the sunshine.
I’m trying to keep kids as excited and engaged in learning as I intersperse bursts of instruction AND of Sage testing to the schedule. So today, besides making amazing scented coffee filter paper roses, the kids measured the perimeter of a 36X28 inch polygon on a self selected patch of soil or grass, staked it with plastic cultlery or sticks, barrior taped it off and then recorded observed data. I think we should………….plant something tomorrow, as well as continue reading the Oragami Yoda book 🙂
Good times. I am grateful for many things.
