Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabella….and Lots of Candles too!

Light of the New Year

His light shines on for us

in each of us

like floating birthday cakes aglow

dismissing differences and fears

’til unknown tears fall no more

among the silenced senseless jeers

restoring life to hope and cheer

to cast a holy halo o’r the many

feeble human minds and faces

the sons of men who race the endless race of races

Collective swirl of soul soup

stone stooped

steeped and seeped with warmth

on earthhewn hearths

community heart spaces

for pudding proof

for giving and for taking youth and wisdom

Creative, creamy stock

the finite human lifespan

falls silent at the feet

the fall of raindrenched footfalls

block for block for block and

soggy, shoe heel insanity

And yet, His power levels and lifts

the shameful sins of man

year after, year after…

the years demand

but soon forget the promise

of peace and soothing

from chasing, and from losing grip

white knuckling Time and counting knots on frayed ropes

tick talk

the words of loved ones here and past

love notes, regrets and snubry

near, and nearer, ever cast

Alas, away the void

the empty, fasting pangs

for finding Home

and feeling love-full

Where Life eternal is and will be

somewhere forever ours

in learning

turning waxy new

within the glow of His Love

everburning source

And so tonight, burn bright New Year!

as if you ever could and will and would

abide with me

Burn bright for me

a child once again,  a happy birthday girl

on high

with wings and shiny sparkly things

confetti glitter glitz and glit

alit, aloft the candle flame and light

of starry, starry night

the sunbeam fallout

the everglow of downy snowflake

the moonlit shadowed winter

powdered sugar candy

crowns of royalty and child’s dreams

the promised picture retake

flash of frosted candle chandeliers

All warm within

the reach and touch

of Advent promises fulfilled.

All glory to a Gracious God

who hears and answers Prayers

and Loves us unconditionally.

Give thanks, Give thanks

for yet another glorious gifted year

of  Grace and Light.

About hrobertson2013

“Each man ( and mermaid) will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land”. Isa 32:2 NIV Warning: The author of this blog is not an ordinary individual. Even Mermaids need a rest from all that's real and grown up. Welcome to the wonder of blog. Come be audience to all that's wet and wild in her stories, poems and thoughts. Instructor by day, super hero by night, and mystical mermaid by summer. Whenever she has the fortune of diving into a pond, reservoir, or mountain waterfall, you'll find her there swimming, and singing songs of life.
